Overview

Natural State Carbon is a developing project focused on converting regional biomass into biochar and carbon-based materials. Based in or near Northwest Arkansas, the project is designed to evaluate practical uses for biochar across agriculture, land management, construction materials, and industrial applications.

Why Northwest Arkansas

Northwest Arkansas has a strong combination of forestry resources, agricultural activity, logistics infrastructure, and major corporate presence. Natural State Carbon is being developed with an eye toward regional partnerships that can create environmental and economic value close to the source of biomass.

What Is Biochar?

Biochar is a stable, carbon-rich material produced by heating biomass in a low-oxygen environment. Depending on the feedstock and production process, biochar can be used in soil applications, environmental remediation, stormwater management, construction materials, and other industrial uses.

Biomass Sourcing

Natural State Carbon is evaluating regional biomass sources, including forestry residuals, wood waste, municipal material streams, and other clean biomass sources suitable for biochar production.

Development Status

Natural State Carbon is currently in the development and feasibility stage, including evaluation of feedstock supply, site requirements, technology options, end markets, permitting, and potential project partners.
