Flyway Forests is a reforestation and carbon removal project focused on restoring native bottomland hardwood forests across the Mississippi Alluvial Valley. The project works with landowners to convert marginal or frequently underperforming agricultural land into long-term forested acreage that can provide ecological, conservation, and carbon benefits.

Why It Matters

The Mississippi Alluvial Valley has historically supported some of the largest and most important bottomland hardwood ecosystems in North America. Reforestation in this region supports improved wildlife habitat, soil health, water quality, flood resilience, and long-term carbon sequestration.

Flyway Forests works with landowners interested in long-term conservation and carbon project participation. The program is designed to create a path for landowners to receive value from land that may be marginal for traditional row crop production while contributing to regional restoration goals.
